Evaluation- What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The company who publishes NME (IPC media) could potentially be a distributer for my media product; the main reason for this is that Soundproof is quite like Q magazine and could potentially be a competitor to this magazine. IPC media could potentially want a magazine of a similar genre as Q in order to grow both as a company and to be a direct competitor to Q. Kerrang is published by Bauer Media Group, it is more unlikely that Bauer would be inclined to distribute 'Soundproof' as they also distribute Q magazine which is rather similar to 'Soundproof'. This is because there would be little need to distribute two fairly similar magazines that would be in direct competition with each other. For this fact it would be more likely that IPC media would want to distribute 'Soundproof'.

Based on the about us section of IPC media's website (http://www.ipcmedia.com/about) the only music magazine that they publish is NME. It is very possible that IPC could be looking to extend into a wider market of music magazines in order to grow this section of their business. Another reason that my magazine could be a potential fit with this distributer is that they distribute a number of different men and women's magazines but very little aimed at a teenage market which is a potential area that they could wish the break into.
