Evaluation- How does your media product represent particular social groups?

The intended target audience of my magazine was teenagers ranging from about 13- 18. All of my models featured in my magazine are within this age range, this helps to establish the target audience as the intended readership of the magazine can associate well with something that is the same as them rather than featuring someone much older, this adds a connection and an incentive to read the magazine. The models that I have chosen are not really representative of one sub culture and more of just normal and realistic views of teenagers, the way in which they are posed are not particularly aggressive, angry or threatening, meaning that there is no particular stereotype being played to here just a realistic image of teenagers. The language used on my sell lines is rather colloquial and informal, which plays into the stereotypical representations of teenagers.

The second part of my target audience is males; the way in which I have represented males in my magazine is in most cases fairly normal in the sense that the mise en scene of the pictures is rather informal in the cloth and hairstyles presented by the models. Stereotypically males are presented as aggressive and threatening although in most cases my pictures do not give off this vibe, thus almost making my pictures countertypes to the general representation as the models could appear to be role models to the younger end of the target audience.
